Morning Update: Yash Has the Key

Yash has the Week 10 key. No noms yet. Taylor told him to put up Drew and Devens so Drew can burn a never-have-not power. FAP is doing funeral math. Dee is still crying Angela.

You wait through three hours of animals — feeds cut at 7:32, still animals at 10:37 — and when the house comes back at 11:36 there's no drumroll, just Yash Patel walking around with the HOH key on his neck. Jokers calls it at 11:40: it appears Yash wins HOH. At 11:50 he's called to the Diary Room, says "it will be my pleasure," and Devens tells him to go celebrate. Week 10 has a head of household. His second — he won Week 6 too. No nominations. No veto. Seven remain, jury continues, and next Thursday is a locked double, per Julie on last night's show. If you missed the evening: Devens won Reinvent The Wheel, Angela Murray left 3–2, and that's already on the record. Four sentences on Thursday. That's the ration. This note is about what the key does to a house overnight.

The win, as they tell it

There's no official comp name on the feeds, so you get texture instead: pipes, a cactus that filled a hat, water that stops and goes, some kind of sequence, and a chair Dee Valladares calls rage bait. Tubes replaced after each person. At 1:18 Yash tells Devens and Dee "Let's go!" — he learned the pattern, and he thought Dee would smoke him because she went so fast. Devens ran back and forth. Drew, per Devens, ran like a chicken. That's the record. Don't put a CBS title card on it.

The show teased next episode's veto as Pressure Cooker — swords versus a target. A tease, not a result.

The storage room, four minutes in

At 11:36 — Jokers posts the flashback later, at 3:06 — Taylor Brown finds Yash in storage. Her pitch: right after Drew gets out of this game, the ceasefire can happen, and "that way we got two Final 4's." She leaves. Yash holds the key up to the camera, says he does this shit, and kisses it.

Taylor comes back with homework. Drew does have a power, she says — he can never be a have-not — so pick Drew and let him use it. Yash says okay. Pick Drew and Devens, she says. They show the key to the DR camera together.

File all of that where it belongs: a conversation. Taylor's slate is Taylor's slate. "Okay" is not a nomination ceremony, and a power described in a storage room at midnight is Taylor's words, not a graphic.

FAP does the math

FAP is still three — Drew Campbell, Barrett Pfeiffer, Melody Morris — and by 12:02 they're doing funeral arithmetic. Barrett: bad vibe. Drew: one of us is going home. Melody's counter: one of us wins veto, one wins the blockbuster.

By 12:07 Barrett has it narrower. Melody's probably safe; it's him or Drew. He doesn't want to leave her in the house with them, and she cries a little — she doesn't want the house or the jury house right now. At 12:09 Melody says she knows it for a fact: Yash wants Drew out. Barrett agrees, probably, but notes Devens and Dee don't.

At 12:14 Barrett asks the question of the night: why did Yash do the ceasefire deal, and a deal with them? Melody says Yash told her he wanted to talk to her and Barrett without Drew. Sit with that one.

Drew, meanwhile, pitches. At 11:43 he tells Yash he'll go upstairs and try — "it will probably still be 3" — and feeds cut. At 12:47 he offers Melody a top-6 of three duos: him and Melody, Devens and Dee, Yash and Taylor. At 12:50 he claims a final two with Yash since day 1. Yash laughs: since day 28. At 12:58 Drew's workshopping theater — should he make a scene at the nom ceremony, what happened to the ceasefire? He doesn't want to be the target. Melody has bad news. Drew: it's Barrett, right?

Dee, at 1:03, tells Drew she tried to warn Barrett and would have voted Yash out. Sorry you're in this position. Drew at 1:04: Yash has limited options, he's not putting Taylor up. Dee: of course, it's his person.

Grief and a basket

Dee spends the small hours mourning. Crying at the table at 1:17 — she was going to give Angela a pity vote. Devens says Angela's pitch against him was that he was still with Drew; he likes Angela, they were legit. By 1:49 Dee's crying in a bed while Drew tells her Angela's okay, she was your girl. Dee: it's stupid, she's still alive.

Around 1:39 Devens makes up the have-not bed and Barrett is asleep on the have-not wheel. That's feeds, not a board lock — nobody's official yet.

At 2:07 Yash gets his room. Brother Dash wrote the letter. Basket, flip flops, Gunna on the iPod, goodnights. At 2:20 Drew, still in his comp outfit, wonders aloud to Dee what Yash will do. At 2:24 Taylor tells Melody: Yash is putting up Drew, he can't put up Dee. Feeds cut. That's Taylor's claim, twice removed from a board.

Nominations have not happened. Taylor's slate is a wish with a key kissed over it. The double is Thursday. Sleep while you can.
