Morning Update: Veto Day

Saturday is veto day. Dee's Week 7 noms — LaTrice Verrett, Taylor Brown, and Drew Campbell — held overnight. Veto has not been played. Overnight Drew pitched Dee to veto Lala and put Yash; she said no. Melody and Mallory said they'd play for him. Lala and Angela hugged, then Lala was still furious about slop. FAP wished Drew the veto and went to bed.

Morning Update: Veto Day

Saturday morning, and the house went to sleep knowing exactly what today is: veto day. Dee Valladares' Week 7 nominations — LaTrice "Lala" Verrett, Taylor Brown, and Drew Campbell — made it through the night unchanged, and nobody has picked players or played anything on-feed yet. Here's how everyone lined up overnight.

The board this morning

Same as last night's update: Dee is HOH, Lala, Taylor, and Drew are on the block, and the veto slot is empty. The house was asleep by 12:30 AM, which means everything below is Friday-night positioning — and positioning is all it is until a comp actually happens.

Everyone wants a ball in the bag

The overnight was one long veto pregame, and the clearest thread is that Drew's people are ready to work.

At 6:55 PM, Melody Morris and Mallory Aurichio both said they'd play in the veto for Drew, and Drew said he thinks Dee would take him off. By 8:05 PM Drew was doing the math out loud: it felt like everyone was on his side except those three, and multiple people had told him they'd pull him down. He put the question to Rick Devens directly — would you use it on me? Devens' answer was the veteran's answer: "I would talk to Dee." Not a no. Very much not a yes.

Drew also went to the source. At 9:05 PM he pitched Dee directly: use the veto on Lala, put Yash Patel next to him, and he'll beat Yash in the Blockbuster. Dee's answer was four words: "No, I don't want to do that." That's the cleanest read on the HOH we got all night — she's not interested in redecorating her own nominations to suit Drew's matchup preferences.

By 11:44 PM Drew was fully in game-day mode: if he gets to pick a houseguest, he's picking Barrett Pfeiffer. He also claimed Taylor said she might not use the veto so that Yash doesn't go up — that's Drew reporting Taylor, not Taylor on camera, so file accordingly. Then the declaration: "I will win the veto. I will eat a Jordan Almond." He does not want Yash drawn to play. A minute later, Barrett gamed out the other branch: if Yash somehow wins it, Barrett hopes the renom is Haley Thogmartin.

Drew, for his part, says he feels okay sitting on the block if he doesn't win — after everything with Taylor and Lala, he likes his position against those two.

The house around the block

The rest of the night was texture, and it was good texture.

Lala and Angela, hug edition. At 6:32 PM, Lala and Angela Murray had it out in the have-not room — Angela said she gave Lala grace for missing Kamu, Lala told Angela she's not an icon in her mind, and somehow it ended in a hug and "I love you we will be friends." Three minutes later Angela was relaying it to Haley, who summarized the détente in one word: "bullsh*t." Peace in our time.

Have-nots. Melody confirmed at 6:52 PM she's a have-not alongside Taylor and Lala, and Mallory said she volunteered. Lala was not gracious about the timing — at 7:15 PM she noted "they" are all hunky dory over there while she's stuck on slop when she could've had regular food. Later she upgraded Melody and Mallory to "little b*tches" while debriefing with Taylor about the pre-nom HOH blowup — Taylor's version being that Drew and Barrett knocked on the door, she ducked into the shower, and came out to find Yash there, at which point she knew it was going public.

FAP, meanwhile, is thinking bigger than this week. At 8:25 PM Mallory floated to Barrett: what if she put all three Icons up? Barrett said they'd get mad; Mallory pointed out they have no powers left — just veto and Blockbuster — and that the Icons only get more dangerous the closer this gets to the end. Angela, unbothered, offered her own agenda item at 9:28 PM: "Let's give Taylor an awful week. She really hasn't had a bad week here yet."

The "never-not pass." Around 11:48 PM Drew joked he got "the F *ss power," and Barrett ran with a bit he'd started earlier in the night — that next week Drew will pull a Have-Not pass out of storage and announce he can never be a have-not again. "DPOV and now the never not pass." This is house chatter and a running joke, not a confirmed twist. Nobody put a pass on the board.

And the small stuff: Taylor allegedly hid Drew's hairbrush (per updaters, 11:55 PM). Then, from 12:12 AM, FAP held an actual rock-and-almond ceremony — wishing Drew a veto win, noting Barrett's here on his birthday, asking for protection, Melody thanking the BB house and the universe. Drew ate a Jordan almond for luck. Lights out by 12:31 AM, with Mallory quietly feeling her way to her have-not bed.

What's actually open today

  • Player picks and the comp have not happened on-feed. No draw, no start time, no result. Anyone telling you who's playing this morning is guessing.
  • Yash still thinks the renom door is open. At 7:10 PM he told Mallory he could still go up; Mallory reassured him there are targets up there already. Yash: "we will see." Correct instinct, Yash.
  • All the Blockbuster matchup talk — Drew vs. Yash, renom scenarios, Haley as backup — is contingent on a veto win that doesn't exist yet. Dee already said no to the one concrete pitch on the table.

Saturday morning recappers on social were calling it POV day while the house slept, and for once the hype and the schedule agree. Somebody's winning veto today. Check back tonight.
