Morning Update: Mallory's Target Hardens Overnight
Dee Valladares remains HOH with Mallory, Taylor, and Yash nominated and no veto use yet, but Mallory’s position hardened overnight as her closest allies begin distancing themselves. Melody admitted to Mallory they need some separation to avoid targets, and Jason coached Lyric to keep low profile around Mallory. Meanwhile, Lyric and Rome’s showmance plays into strategic talk about Mallory’s eviction, with Rome advising Lyric to align with Devens. Veto is expected today, and social maneuvering continues around potential renom options and alliance shifts. The power remains stable, but the social map around Mallory is changing to prepare for her eviction.

The power board didn't move an inch overnight. Dee Valladares is still HOH, Mallory Aurichio, Taylor Brown, and Yash Patel are still on the block, and nobody has touched a veto. But if you slept through the July 10–11 feeds, you missed the part of Big Brother that never shows up on a board: the house quietly rehearsing how to lose Mallory without losing themselves.
Quick orientation if you're just waking up: our Week 1 power note covered Dee's HOH, the three noms, and the house consensus that Mallory is the intended target, with Melody floated as renom chatter if the veto gets used. Everything below is overnight feed texture on top of that — social movement, not power movement.
The soft-landing of Mallory
The overnight theme, stated plainly: the people who like Mallory most are practicing distance.
Start with Melody. Around 04:52 UTC she's in the storage room with Ashley, nervous about day-1 alliance perception, gaming out who they can pull in — Drew, maybe Rome, though she notes Rome likes Lyric but "does not like Mallory and won't work with her." Melody says she's close to Mallory but doesn't want to be a target for it, and that it's too early in the game to fight for Mallory — maybe later, not now. She's also careful to note that she, Lyric, and Mallory never made anything official.
Then she does the hard part. Around 05:09, Melody tells Mallory directly that they need to split up a little. Mallory, for her part, is still gaming: she tells Melody that if she wins HOH she'd put up Dee, Kamu, and Haley, whom she reads as working together. So the target is not spiraling — she's counting shots. But her closest ally just told her to her face that the association is a liability.
Jason is running the same playbook with Lyric. Around 06:23, he's whispering: keep Mallory cool, don't be seen with her a lot — he noticed Lyric kept her distance today and told her "that's good." They agree they love Mallory as a person but it's a game. Lyric's version: she loves Mallory, but "you came to play," and if you're on the block you do whatever it takes. Notably, Lyric says she doesn't even want to play veto — she doesn't want the association of touching this nomination. Jason approves. Lyric says she trusts Jason a lot, which is worth filing away for later.
Interpretation, clearly labeled: nobody flipped on Mallory overnight, because nobody needed to. What changed is that her social circle started treating her eviction as weather — something you dress for, not something you fight.
Rome and Lyric: the showmance is real, and so is the game inside it
The overnight entertainment centerpiece: Lyric and Rome kissed in his pod bed around 08:03 and again at 08:20, followed by an extended hang stretching toward 09:50 — I-like-you talk, territorial energy, future-husband teasing, "I trust you, you are my #1," and finally a comedy exit where Lyric got stuck on the pod ladder. Jason had already joked hours earlier that if he wins HOH the two of them can cuddle on his bed, so the house sees it too.
But the game content inside the pod matters more than the kissing. At 08:05, Lyric tells Rome he put the nail in Mallory's coffin — she's not confused about where this is heading, and she's saying it to the person she just named her #1. Rome, meanwhile, is coaching her: get close to Devens for your game. At 08:18 they're speculating about the renom, and Lyric passes along that Melody was pissed people think Melody/Mallory/Lyric are a trio.
To be precise about what this is: #1 talk and showmance energy, not a spoken final-two deal. But two people trading strategic advice and trio intel at 8 a.m. in a pod bed is a game structure whether they name it or not.
Rome also did some brand management with Yash around 06:46 — telling him that picking Rome for veto would advertise that they're tight and hurt them both, and to pick Barrett instead. Yash later relayed to Mallory that Rome doesn't want to win or look like a threat this early. Yash, for the record, has no clue who he'd pick if houseguest's choice comes up.
Vote texture: Barrett's cam talk and the Taylor-safe read
Around 09:57, Barrett gave the cameras a state-of-Barrett. He feels closest to Angela, Devens, and Drew; likes Jason a lot but calls it surface-level; has had zero game talk with Lyric and says a lot of people feel that way; and confirms the house perception that Mallory, Melody, and Lyric read as a trio. The headline: if forced to vote right now, he'd vote out Taylor — hasn't talked to her much, and thinks Yash could be a great comp player worth having around. He also declared Ashley the funniest person he's ever met, which is not game-relevant but is very Barrett-at-10-UTC.
File that under provisional. One cam talk is one vote's worth of texture, and Haley told Chuk around 08:26 that she thinks Taylor is safe. Both things can be feed-true at once; neither is a vote count.
Drew and Melody build the middle
The other quiet structure forming: Drew and Melody, around 10:20–10:45, talking in the bathroom and then hanging upside-down off a couch. Drew asks flat-out if she wants to jump ship. Melody says she doesn't know if she wants to play with Mallory — she likes her, but Mallory's post-nom "BB is lame" energy soured her — and she's worried Ashley could be a renom. Drew's veto plan, if he wins: defer to Dee. He doesn't want to anger someone he thinks will win a lot of comps, and he notes that pulling Yash down could put Melody up. Their agreed strategy is peak week-one middle-building: stay insulated, lay low, talk game with everyone. Drew also mentions a workout group forming, and Melody floats that Ashley's alliance idea might now go forward without Mallory and maybe with Rome. Early pairing talk, not a named deal — but it's the second overnight structure worth watching.
What Saturday may bring
The house believes veto is today, Saturday, July 11. That belief traces to Yash's post-DR report around 06:34: the DR guy said "good luck tomorrow," Yash asked if that meant veto, and DR wouldn't confirm but said it usually is. Yash put himself to bed on that assumption, and the house spent the evening speculating about OTEV (Angela says it's too soon for OTEV; Jason wants to play; Ashley maybe). None of that is board fact. The board says: no veto played, no renom, no eviction.
Melody-as-renom remains what it was in the Week 1 note — Dee/Kamu chatter, not gospel — though it's worth noting Melody herself is now worried about Ashley going up instead. Everyone's doing renom math on a veto that hasn't happened.
Bottom line: the power board is frozen and the social map is not. Mallory's allies spent the night learning to stand near the exit without touching her. If veto really is today, we'll know soon whether any of this rehearsal mattered. Until then, treat everything above as feed weather — real, observed, and subject to one comp result changing all of it.
