Monday Update: Mallory Goes Up

Monday midday LaTrice used veto on herself and Dee named Mallory Aurichio as the replacement. Final Week 7 noms: Taylor Brown, Drew Campbell, and Mallory. Ceremony happened on animals; feeds came back at 1:22 PM with Mallory pointing at herself for Blockbuster and punching a DEE pillow. Sunday's Haley-to-Mallory's-face / Mallory-to-the-camera split is now the slate.

Monday Update: Mallory Goes Up

The veto ceremony happened Monday midday, and it went the way Sunday said it would. LaTrice used the veto on herself, Dee named Mallory Aurichio as the replacement, and the final Week 7 nominations are Taylor Brown, Drew Campbell, and Mallory. Taylor and Drew never moved. Mallory is the news.

Feeds down, feeds back

The ceremony itself happened off-feed, so I don't have Dee's speech and I'm not going to make one up. Here's the shape of the gap: at 12:11 PM the feeds cut to animals — Jokers had Barrett and Drew on camera waiting for the veto meeting right as it dropped. At 1:11 PM, animals again for another hour, a "BIG BROTHER" card at 1:19, and feeds back at 1:22 PM on Drew, Mallory, and Devens in the gym.

The result came in two lanes. Social recappers — hamsterwatch, BB Live Updaters, Big Brother Network, Big Bro Tea — all reported the same thing: LaTrice pulled herself off, Mallory went up. And the house behaved like it was done, which is the part I trust most. That's the board: HOH Dee, veto LaTrice (used on herself), noms Taylor, Drew, Mallory.

The first fifteen minutes back told you everything about where Mallory's head is. At 1:26 PM she was talking Blockbuster — Drew thinks he's gonna win it, but she pointed to herself. At 1:27 she announced she was going to punch pillows in the have-not room. At 1:30 she was walking around with a "DEE" pillow, which is the kind of detail the feeds exist for.

Drew's read, to Devens at 1:28: she took it well. Then the colder part — if she's still up there, Mallory goes, and he didn't tell her that. Devens said he'd talk to Barrett; he likes PQ but thinks she has it out for him. So Drew is publicly consoling and privately counting, which is Drew's whole week.

Why this tracks Sunday

None of this should surprise anyone who read the Sunday note (already published). Dee told Mallory she was considering her, then said she was leaning Haley, then told the camera she was sending Mallory home. Haley was the face Dee showed Mallory; Mallory was the plan.

Monday morning before the meeting, Dee told Devens that Barrett is sad and loyal and that she keeps telling him Mallory could still stay. Devens' answer: they don't know yet that she's going to go. Which is technically true and also the kind of thing Devens says while doing math. Drew had already said Mallory will probably come after the Icons, and Devens' response — that doesn't give much incentive to keep her — is the quiet engine under all of this.

What's still open

Thursday is still Thursday. There's a Blockbuster between the ceremony and the vote, and I'm not inventing a winner — Mallory pointing at herself is a claim, not a result. If she wins it, Dee's week gets complicated fast. The Drew-vs-Mallory vote counting from Sunday was a whiteboard exercise, not a lock, and it stays that way until we see who's actually on the block Thursday night.

The most interesting post-ceremony line came from LaTrice, at 1:33 PM to Taylor: Dee knows breaking up those four is important — that's what's going on. "Those four" is FAP: Drew, Barrett, Mallory, Melody. If that's the frame Dee is selling, or the frame LaTrice believes, then Mallory going up isn't a one-off renom — it's the first cut at an alliance. Watch whether Barrett's sad-but-loyal act survives the week, and whether Devens' Barrett conversation happens on-feed.
