Evening Update: Devens Will Blow It Up

Wednesday afternoon into evening on the feeds. The board didn't move — Angela, Haley, Kamu, Blockbuster Thursday — but the house spent nine hours rehearsing. Mallory and Melody said the quiet part out loud about Mosh Pit. Devens told Drew exactly how nuclear he'll go if Thursday slips. And Drew, Melody, and Mallory agreed on the plan: lie to Kamu, take the shot if he's on the block, apologize later.

The board, one beat

Nothing structural changed since lunch. Yash is HOH, the final noms are Angela, Haley, and Kamu, Dee is off the block and active, and the Blockbuster plus eviction land Thursday. The CBS episode aired Monday's business — noms, OTEV, the diamond veto — which is fine television and not Wednesday news.

What Wednesday actually produced was talk. A lot of it, and some of it very clarifying.

Afternoon: M&M say the quiet part

Around 4:15 PM, Melody asked Mallory the direct question: are we voting out Kamu no matter what? Mallory's answer had a hedge in it — she's down to vote out Haley if Angela wins Blockbuster (Jokers). But the rest of the sit was the interesting part. Melody said she won't mention Angela's Crossovers comment to Drew or Barrett; Mallory's posture was to let Drew and Barrett do all the talking (Jokers). Mallory went further: if the Icons don't win HOH, there's no reason to protect them, don't tell Barrett or Drew, and the girls have been rocking with Yash since day one versus the Icons for a few days (Jokers).

Per updaters covering the same sit, the framing got even blunter: Mosh Pit was only formed to get Kamu out, and if Kamu goes and an Icon wins HOH, M&M could be on the block. Blindsiding Yash hurts them more than it hurts Drew and Barrett, and Melody said she'd feel like shit putting up Yash and Taylor if she won HOH (@89razorskate20, quoting BB_Updates).

So: yes to lunch-hour Melody wobbling toward keep-Kamu, and yes to afternoon Melody treating Mosh Pit as a disposable tool. Both are real. She contains multitudes, and one of them votes with Mallory.

Devens to Drew: the order, then the nuke

Just before 6 PM — live feeds, not the recap — Devens sat with Drew and laid out his whole worldview. Melody and Mallory are a sinking ship (Jokers). Kamu goes, and if Mosh Pit is loyal, "we can do what we want" with Haley after (Jokers). The pre-jury wish lists diverged a little — Devens wants Lala out, then said Drew wants Taylor, while Devens wants Yash out before jury (Jokers). Drew doesn't want Yash told beforehand; Devens shrugged that Yash knows where he stands and that's FAP's issue, while Drew noted the girls have wanted Kamu out for weeks (Jokers).

Devens' preferred eviction order, stated plainly: Kamu, then Haley, then Angela — or, in his words, he's sunk (Jokers).

Then, 6:21 to 6:25 PM, the threat. If things don't go to plan Thursday, it's him, Dee, and Angela alone — and he will invite everyone to a meeting, bury Drew and Barrett, pledge himself to Yash or Kamu, and blow up Mosh Pit, Red Corner, Crossover, and Wolf Pack. "If I'm going to have nothing, then no one else can have anything." "I'm going nuclear, turn the keys" (Jokers, Jokers, Jokers).

To be clear about what this is: a threat, described to one person, contingent on a Thursday miss. There is no scheduled house meeting. But it's now on tape, and Devens is not historically a bluffer about the theatrical stuff.

Barrett covers, then rats

Around 6:44 PM, Barrett debriefed Devens: he'd told Kamu he's out of the loop this week. Devens asked, one to ten, does Mosh Pit do what we say? Barrett: ten. Devens repeated the blow-it-up line; Barrett's read is Kamu or Haley goes (Jokers). Then Barrett got tired of it — "so tired of covering Drew's ass" — and told Devens that Drew called Devens the scariest Icon back during Lala's HOH meeting (Jokers).

Per social, Barrett also cam-talked his own contingency: if M&M flip, there's no way people believe Drew and Barrett didn't know, so he'd call all four out, expose everything, and offer himself to Yash and Kamu (@89razorskate20). That's two separate men now threatening to detonate the same alliance from different directions.

For his part, Kamu is playing it graceful. At 6:07 PM he told Barrett the game player and fan in him respects Devens' moves, offered to be a shield, and offered to help the rookies take a shot at the vets (Jokers).

The HOH sit: Yash sells to the sellers

From about 7:05 to 7:51 PM, Yash pitched keep-Kamu (with Haley framed as a future pawn) to exactly the people who'd spent the afternoon agreeing to lie to him. Mallory pushed back that she almost went home going after the Icons — where was this energy then (@89razorskate20). Drew and Mallory said they'll go with what the group wants; everyone in the room agreed Kamu will likely win Blockbuster, and they agreed with Haley going in that branch. Yash's line: Kamu is a weapon (@89razorskate20).

At 7:18 PM Yash got sentimental about it: remember Haley played so hard on day 3 and we were annoyed — let tomorrow be the day she goes home, hasta la vista (Jokers).

The second Yash left, the room graded itself. Drew: I think he knows we aren't keeping Kamu. Melody: well, you're doing a bad job. Mallory: you're making it seem like you actually want to keep Kamu. Mallory also passed along that Yash said if Kamu leaves, Drew and Barrett would run to the Icons (@89razorskate20). Then the three of them landed on the plan of record: lie to Kamu about keeping him, assume he probably wins Blockbuster anyway, and if he's on the block Thursday — take the shot and apologize later (@89razorskate20).

Late evening: everyone hedges, one person tells the truth-ish

Per updaters, from about 8:49 PM on:

• Mallory and Melody revisited the Angela-wins branch — Haley over Kamu — but don't think the votes are there and don't want to blindside Drew and Barrett; they're calling it a last-minute decision. They still agree to evict Kamu if Haley wins Blockbuster (@89razorskate20).
• They also contemplated blindsiding Drew and Barrett anyway, don't want either winning HOH next week, and are worried Devens will expose Mosh Pit — plan is to lie (@TheBigBroTea).
• Melody told Angela she has the votes to stay no matter what. That's a pitch, not a count (@TheBigBroTea).
• Drew, meanwhile, quietly told Kamu the real weather: he needs to win Blockbuster, Mallory and Melody are iffy, it's a losing battle. Kamu thanked him for the honesty — and, per the updater, doesn't trust Drew and plans to tell Yash (@89razorskate20).
• Yash and Taylor compared notes. Taylor will be pissed if they're told Kamu is being kept and then he isn't — she just wants the truth. Yash feels good about Melody and Mallory, and if they snake him, he says he'll go to Devens and say "let's run it" (@TheBigBroTea, @89razorskate20). Taylor's parting shot: when Kamu stays Thursday they're going to be sick, because he's going to win HOH (@TheBigBroTea).
• Per social, Yash is convinced they have the votes to keep Kamu. That is Yash's read, not a count — and in the same sit he also allowed that he may have no pulse on the game either (@TheBigBroTea, @BB_Updates). Around 9:50 PM he went downstairs to make tea and gather another voting talk. No outcome on that yet (@89razorskate20).

Thursday branches

Labeled leans, not locks:

Haley wins Blockbuster → Kamu vs. Angela. FAP, Devens, and Mallory still lean Kamu, and M&M re-confirmed it tonight. Yash is still selling save-Kamu into that wind. This is the branch Devens' nuke is aimed at — if Kamu somehow survives it, that's the miss he attached the house meeting to.

Kamu wins → Haley vs. Angela. Yash's preferred branch, and honestly the tidiest one for the liars: nobody has to shoot anybody they promised not to. Drew has said Angela stays; Melody told Angela she stays no matter what, which, again, was a pitch.

Angela wins → Haley vs. Kamu. Mallory said this afternoon she's down to vote Haley here — then tonight M&M weren't sure the votes exist and didn't want to blindside Drew and Barrett. FAP as a bloc still mostly leans Kamu. Messiest branch on the board.

The honest summary of Wednesday: two men separately threatened to blow up Mosh Pit, three people agreed to lie to a fourth, the fourth's HOH is confident he has the votes, and the only fully truthful conversation of the night may have been Drew warning the target — which the target didn't believe. Blockbuster Thursday.
