The Surprise Houseguests Are the Story Now
CBS confirmed 14 new houseguests at Broveal and promised surprise additions on air. Mainstream reports name Angela Murray and Rick Devens, a second Survivor is rumored, and PocketBB sorts what's official, reported, and pure fan chatter.

Broveal did its job on July 7, 2026: 14 new houseguests, official bios, and one very loud open door — "additional surprise Houseguests will be revealed" on air. We covered the full 14 and that open door in our cast reveal note, so we're not re-listing anyone here.
Because the 14 aren't the story anymore. The door is.
In the roughly 48 hours between Broveal and the July 9 premiere, that "surprise Houseguests" line went from teaser to near-open secret, with named mainstream reports, a widely repeated fan rumor, and a whole lot of social chatter that keeps getting laundered into "confirmed." This note is the sorting bin: what CBS has actually said, what reputable outlets have reported by name, what's still rumor, and what premiere week can lock down.
The official shelf (and it's a short shelf)
Here is everything CBS and Paramount Press Express have put on the record as of publication:
- 14 new houseguests, announced during Big Brother: Broveal on July 7, 2026.
- Additional surprise Houseguests will be revealed on air. No names. No count. No mechanics.
- Premiere: Thursday, July 9, 2026, 8:00–9:30 PM ET/PT on CBS.
- Live feeds launch Friday, July 10 at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
That's it. That's the whole official shelf on the extras: they exist, plural, and they arrive on air.
Our policy hasn't changed since the Broveal note: the PocketBB cast board carries the 14 announced newbies and nothing else until CBS confirms a name on air or in official materials. Reported names — no matter how solid the reporting — wait in the lobby.
The reported shelf: two names, one blank
This is where the mainstream exclusives live, and they're worth taking seriously precisely because they're bylined reporting, not vibes.
Angela Murray (BB26) — Men's Journal's Sharon Tharp reported exclusively that Angela is returning for BB28, that she was deliberately left out of the Broveal announcement, and that her reveal is planned for the premiere. CBS declined to comment to Men's Journal — standard for a staged rollout, and not the same thing as a confirmation.
Rick Devens (Survivor) — Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross reported exclusively that Devens is competing on BB28. The same report says a second Survivor player is also entering the house — unnamed. Men's Journal's piece independently confirms the Devens reporting and repeats the second-castaway detail, also without a name. TVLine's July 7 cast coverage folded in the Angela/Devens/second-Survivor package as well.
So the reported shelf holds exactly two names and one deliberate blank. Both exclusives could name Devens; neither would name the second Survivor. That gap is doing a lot of work in the rumor economy right now.
The rumor shelf: Dee, Unlocked, and the fan-site packaging
Dee Valladares is the name fans and fan sites keep writing into that blank. Big Brother Network's "cast expands" writeup packages Angela and Devens as reported vets and passes along Dee as the widely rumored second Survivor, with the claim that the second castaway "will be confirmed" Friday, July 10 on Unlocked.
To be clear about what that is: fan-site packaging of social chatter, not CBS, and not a named-source exclusive. The Unlocked-reveal timing is the same lane — plausible, unsourced. There's even a Reddit theory thread asking whether Dee is "a potential punishment," which is a fun read and confirms exactly nothing.
Same goes for the social texture piled up on July 8–9: posts about Entertainment Tonight announcing Angela and Devens, chatter about another Survivor alum, the pre-feeds splash screen going live on Paramount+, and early house chatter quotes (a houseguest reportedly mentioning Angela by name). All of it treats the extras as an open secret. None of it is an official cast confirmation, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Gold Derby and others have already run galleries counting the season with the extras included. That's media packaging getting ahead of CBS, not CBS.
Why the packaging matters anyway
Even staying strictly inside the labels, the shape of this rollout tells you something. CBS built a whole announcement special, held names back on purpose, and let a multi-vet story — a BB26 player plus at least one, probably two Survivor castaways — leak into mainstream trades on the same day. That's a delayed-reveal strategy designed to keep the cast a live story through premiere week, and it means the extras will enter the house with real social gravity before a single comp runs.
What we don't know matters just as much: whether every reported name is a full-season player, whether anyone enters with powers or advantages, how many surprise houseguests there actually are, and whether the second Survivor is Dee at all. We're not inventing mechanics to fill those holes, and you should side-eye anyone who does.
What PocketBB watches next
- Thursday, July 9, 8/7c — the premiere. If Angela and Devens walk in on air, they go on the cast board that night, with the reporting credited.
- Friday, July 10 — Unlocked, then feeds at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT. If the second-Survivor reveal really is an Unlocked moment, this is where the Dee rumor lives or dies. Feeds will also settle how the extras actually slot into the house.
- The board — promotion rules stay boring on purpose: on-air or official confirmation moves a name from "reported" to "cast." Nothing else does.
Two names in the mainstream exclusives, one blank, one loud rumor, and a premiere with actual suspense left in it. That's a better preseason than we usually get.
