Post-Veto Update: Lyric Saves Herself, Jason Hits the Block

Lyric used the veto on herself and Kamu named Jason as the replacement nominee. After Sunday’s tea-party confrontation and an overnight kettle campaign, Jason now needs another Blockbuster win.

The Week 3 veto ceremony is done, and the result is exactly what Jason spent two days daring the house to do. Lyric Medeiros used the Power of Veto on herself, HOH Kamu Kirk named Jason De Puy the replacement nominee, and — per a post-ceremony report — Jason showed up to his own renom with a cup of tea and a punchline. The final three nominees heading into the BB Blockbuster are Jason, Lala Verrett, and Mallory Aurichio.

The ceremony itself took about 25 minutes of feed downtime. The runway to it took a broken wooden spoon, a tea kettle used as a pillow, and one of the strangest overnight campaigns of the season.

The Tea Party Turns Into a Trial

When we left off Sunday evening, the house was mid-tea-party, dressed up and behaving. That lasted about half an hour.

At 7:02 PM, Kamu congratulated Lyric and Mallory on the veto, then raised what he called "the elephant in the room": he had a replacement nominee to name, and he wanted to talk about the week in front of everyone. By 7:05, he was walking the table through the deal he'd offered Jason before nominations — and then confronting Jason with reports that he'd been pitching himself as a weapon against different groups, depending on the audience. Kamu's question, in essence: which version of you is real?

Jason's answer, at 7:15 PM: "Let us do the veto ceremony now, put me up." A dare, delivered mid-confrontation — not the ceremony, which was still 17 hours away. By 7:29 he was asking Kamu directly whether he was the renom, saying he'd need the Blockbuster if nominated. Kamu's response: if Jason survived, it would be water under the bridge.

The vibe at the table was not water under anything. By 7:40, Lala was crying and Angela was comparing the party to the Red Wedding — the receipts have since dubbed it the "tea party massacre." At 7:50, Jason said he wanted to go home and asked whether he should pack. Then, in classic feeds fashion, he went and rejoined people at the hot tub.

The Tea Kettle Campaign

Here's where the week gets genuinely weird.

Between 10:11 and 10:27 PM, Jason floated an idea to Lyric: if she didn't use the veto, it would "gag" the house — and he planted the same seed talking to the camera. (For the record: Lyric used the veto on herself. There's no evidence she ever seriously considered leaving herself on the block.)

Then Jason pivoted from strategy to percussion. At 2:13 AM, he walked into the kitchen while Kamu and Drew were talking and banged a tea kettle with a wooden spoon until the spoon broke. At 2:43 AM, he fell asleep with the kettle on his chest. At 8:44 AM, he woke up with it still nearby, like a very loud emotional support animal.

The Monday morning set ran from 9:25 to 10:31 AM: tea bags scattered around the house, cookware banged whenever people tried to strategize, groups called out to Kamu's face, and — the pièce de résistance — kettle-banging outside the Diary Room door while Kamu was inside it. The message, delivered at maximum volume: Jason was going to "spill the tea."

Underneath the noise, though, there was a real person having a real week. At 10:33 AM, Jason cried while asking Lyric whether he could trust her. She told him she'd never throw him under the bus.

The Ceremony: "And That's the Tea"

Feeds cut to animals at 11:53 AM and came back at 12:18 PM. At 12:25, BB Updates confirmed the result: Lyric used the Power of Veto on herself, and Kamu nominated Jason as the replacement. Independent fan-feed reports matched the same final three.

The flourish comes from a post-ceremony social report — attributed as such, since the feeds were down for the ceremony itself: Jason reportedly brought a cup of tea to the ceremony, placed a tea bag in front of the veto box, and said "and that's the tea" as it closed. We can't verify it frame by frame, but it is extremely consistent with a man who slept holding a kettle.

What the Blockbuster Now Decides

The post-ceremony math started immediately. At 12:22 PM, Kamu and Devens met in HOH, where Devens declared "mission accomplished" and Kamu rehashed the previous night's confrontation. At 12:25, Lyric told Jason they'd get him through the week and that he could win the Blockbuster again.

Jason himself sees it plainly: there's no campaigning route left, so he needs to win. He named Mallory as his biggest competition — while noting she's a Have-Not, which matters if the Blockbuster is physical.

The branches, per the 12:45–1:03 PM strategy session between Kamu, Devens, and Dee:

If Jason loses the Blockbuster: he's the target. That part is settled among the people running the week.
If Jason wins safety: the Lala-versus-Mallory question is genuinely open. Kamu said he'd evict Mallory in a tie, but the group is already worried about Drew and Barrett wanting to keep her.

No vote is settled. Jason is not doomed — he has a Blockbuster route, and he's used it before.

Loose Threads

Two secondary notes worth tracking:

Devens' hidden power. At 1:03 PM, Devens said he would use his Diamond Power of Veto on Angela — but wouldn't tell her. To be clear: this is a privately stated intention, not a power use, and it changes nothing on the current board. File it under things that could detonate later.

Lala's wobble. At 2:20 PM, Lala again said she wanted to quit — then, almost in the same breath, said she wants to win, see the confetti, and become the oldest winner. Angela encouraged her. It's been that kind of week for everyone.
