Morning Update: We Are Not Doing That

Overnight Barrett shut down a save-Angela float: we are not doing that. Melody wants Devens out, not Dee. Dee is selling Yash and filled with rage. Three Icons still sit.

It's Wednesday morning, September 9, and the board hasn't moved. Week 9. Barrett Pfeiffer is HOH. Yash Patel held the veto and didn't use it Monday. The final noms are Angela Murray, Dee Valladares, and Rick Devens. Eight remain, jury has started, Dee and Melody Morris are the have-nots, and the Blockbuster still sits between now and Thursday.

The overnight headline: someone in this house floated saving Angela, and at 1:42 Barrett told the camera exactly what he thought. We'll get there.

What you already have

Yesterday morning covered the fallout of the unused veto. Barrett called it the destruction of a final five. Yash named a different four — him, Barrett, Taylor Brown, Melody — and Drew Campbell and Melody said one of them is cooked unless they win the next HOH. Dee promised Barrett a lifetime of regret and Drew a smile. That's the recap. Moving on.

Dee opens the store

Tuesday, 2:21, Dee is alone, counting votes out loud, rehearsing her pitch. By 2:30 she has it: Angela can't win comps, Dee can. If Yash sits next to Dee on eviction night, she goes home and he stays. The alliance screwed her, so she owes them nothing — she'll be loyal to him. She needs three votes. Also she hasn't studied, which is a strange thing to include in a résumé, but here we are.

At 2:41 she goes further: if she wins HOH, she puts up Drew and Barrett. I want to go to war. Yash: F them. At 2:44 she promises she won't put Yash up, her word, and she'll talk to Taylor too. At 2:46 she claims she has the third vote from whoever comes back from the Blockbuster — her claim, unverified, filed accordingly — and Yash muses about what happens if he wins and doesn't put her up. She shrugs and smiles. That's future-HOH talk, not a deal, and you should hold it exactly that loosely.

Meanwhile, at 2:56, Devens asks Dee: if you win Blockbuster, do I have your vote? 100%, do not worry. She might start campaigning tomorrow. Everyone's selling. Nobody's buying yet.

Rage, nightmares, flashcards

Angela, for her part, tells Barrett at 3:05 she's locked in and happy, ready to go, and won't campaign against Dee or Devens. She knows what happens to her game if Dee stays. At 3:10 she's still open to working together. Barrett: I do not know if I deserve it.

Dee is not doing acceptance. At 3:17 she tells the cam she wants to fight Drew and Barrett — she can fight Barrett, but Drew is voting, so she wants to blindside Drew instead. She does not say that to Drew. She tells Drew, at 3:19, that people have nightmares about one mistake in a million-dollar game, and she feels bad it could happen to Barrett. At 3:20 Drew says he does not know if he trusts Barrett 100%. At 3:22 her heart hurts for the little boy with big dreams who'll be crushed and go to the real world without the 750k and find a real job. This is Dee feeling bad, in the way a chainsaw feels bad.

At 3:45 she's alone in the have-not room, crying about the odds. Angela stops by at 3:51: don't be sad. Dee: I am not sad, I am filled with rage inside. Later, at 7:44, she tells Angela she wants someone to have nightmares about her for the rest of their lives. She is not even kidding, she says. Nobody argued.

At 3:44 Yash offers Angela a different four if she comes off: her, him, Dee, Taylor. Angela: I know what she is doing.

The vote that is not a vote

The math is jelly. At 3:54 Melody says she wants Devens out and told Drew she is not voting out Dee. Taylor thinks Drew keeps Devens over Angela; Melody says Drew wants Dee out over Devens. At 4:03 Melody calls Drew still-playing-the-middle and Taylor says Barrett has picked a side. Taylor warns Melody, at 4:04, that her relationship with Drew will get her put up next to him. Exactly, says Melody, and the feeds cut, as they do.

The Icon caucus runs its own numbers at 4:21: Devens says Drew wants Yash out and probably picks Melody and Barrett at the end. The jury is anti-Icon. Angela notes there will be two Icons in jury with pull. At 4:24, while they're studying dates, Angela calls Devens the answer key. That is a flashcard compliment, not an eviction speech.

Then, at 8:44, the actual grenade: Drew and Melody float voting out Angela now, on the logic that everyone on the block would leave next to Angela. Melody would only do it Dee-versus-Angela — never Devens-versus-Angela, because she wants Devens gone.

We are not doing that

At 11:23 Barrett stays polite about the Angela thing: one of the Survivors should go, but he understands. At 11:24 he counts Angela's jury pull — Lala plus the other two Icons is three — and admits an Angela final two would be something.

Politeness expires overnight. At 1:29 he says he will be mad if this isn't a double; if Devens goes and it isn't, Lala and Devens will be in the jury house alone. That's a want, not a schedule. At 1:38, after Drew and Melody leave, Barrett says they are his final two. They've just wished him a happy birthday, since Wednesday is his.

Then, at 1:42, the title: what the hell are they talking about, saving Angela. We are not doing that shit. Tough road ahead.

At 1:51 Melody is scared to go into the have-not room and remove the RIP M&Ms Dee left on the bed. Say a prayer for me. Drew crosses himself. At 3:56 the RIP is still there. Nobody in this house is brave before breakfast.

Three Icons sit. Thursday isn't written. The Blockbuster is the week.
