Morning Update: Three Games, One Very Big Thursday

Rome still needs the Blockbuster, Lyric is already campaigning for Jason in the Rome-wins branch, and Chuk and Dee think Melody has the votes—if Drew and Barrett cooperate. Tonight's Blockbuster, eviction, and new HOH collapse every conditional plan into one very big Thursday.

Tonight the house plays three games in a row: the Blockbuster saves one of Jason, Melody, or Rome; the two left over face the vote; and then a new HOH resets the whole board. Nobody went to sleep Wednesday night with all three solved. Nobody went to sleep with even one of them solved, honestly — every plan in the house last night was a conditional plan, an "if this branch, then that pitch" arrangement. Our last note took the feeds through 6:10 PM Wednesday; this one covers the live house from that cutoff through the final overnight receipt at 1:04 AM Thursday, all times Pacific.

The board itself hasn't moved. Rick Devens is still the Week 2 HOH and veto winner, the veto came down on Lyric Medeiros, and the Blockbuster field is Jason De Puy, Melody Morris, and Rome Seymour. Ashley Trail is still the only evicted houseguest. Everything else — every count, every prediction — is houseguest talk, and we're going to treat it that way.

Rome's cleanest path is still the Blockbuster

Nothing overnight changed the basic shape of Rome's week: the house has repeatedly described him as the target, and the only branch where that stops mattering is the one where he wins safety himself. If Jason wins the Blockbuster, Rome sits next to Melody and the prior receipts point one direction. If Melody wins, Rome sits next to Jason and the prior receipts point the same direction. Neither of those is final — votes don't exist until they're cast — but nobody spent Wednesday night building a keep-Rome coalition, and that silence is its own data point.

The small human beat: at 9:18 PM, Rome gave Taylor his sweater while packing. That's farewell-coded, not a verdict. Houseguests pack because they're nominated, not because they're gone. But it tells you how Rome himself is reading the room.

Devens, for his part, spent the early evening predicting the other outcome — at 6:44 PM he told Dee he thought Jason would win the Blockbuster. Prediction and positioning, not a result. File it next to everything else in this note.

Lyric starts campaigning for the branch after Rome

The most interesting overnight work came from Lyric, who is playing the only branch where both of her people could survive. At 10:47 PM she told Jason she would campaign hard for him. A minute later she got specific: Melody would not win anything "for us," and Jason and Rome are her top two in the house — she said she could make that case to Mallory. By 10:49 PM she was sketching a possible pro-Jason coalition against Melody: Taylor, herself, Yash, LaTrice, Barrett, Rome, and Mallory.

Label that clearly: it's Lyric's optimistic count, unverified, and it only matters in the branch where Rome wins the Blockbuster and Jason sits next to Melody. But note what it isn't — it isn't betrayal of Rome. Lyric spent Wednesday still pushing for Rome (more on that in a second); this is her planning for the one Thursday where she doesn't have to choose.

Except she is also, quietly, choosing. At 10:58 PM Lyric asked Jason whether she should give Rome a sympathy vote if he stayed vulnerable. Jason's answer was measured: people would understand, but it would be better to vote with the house. That conversation is Lyric considering life after Rome even while campaigning for Jason in the alternate branch — a houseguest playing two timelines at once, which is exactly what this Thursday demands.

Earlier in the evening, LaTrice was working the same seam from the other side. At 7:13 PM she told Jason that Lyric was still pushing for Rome to stay but needed to accept the likely outcome and play her own game — and she encouraged Jason to win the Blockbuster. If Lyric's pivot felt sudden, it wasn't; the house had been nudging her toward it all night.

Chuk and Dee think they have Melody's votes — except for the middle

The Jason-versus-Melody branch is the genuinely contested one, and it got its own strategy session. At 11:02 PM, Chuk and Dee counted the vote. Chuk's read: they have influence over Melody and the numbers to keep her even without Lyric, Mallory, and Taylor. Dee's immediate response was to poke at the assumptions — specifically Drew and Barrett. Chuk laughed. Dee said it was not a joke.

Dee's skepticism has some grounding. At 6:29 PM, Devens told Dee he'd warned Drew and Barrett not to interfere with the vote — which tells you Devens thinks they might. And at 6:44 PM, Dee reported that Taylor and LaTrice were pushing to keep Jason, with Dee and Angela agreeing in front of them (agreeing in front of someone and agreeing being, of course, different things in this house).

So in the one branch with a real fight, we have two competing counts: Lyric claims seven-ish names for Jason; Chuk claims the numbers for Melody without needing three of those names. Both counts are houseguest claims. Both counts share an unstable middle. Neither survives contact with an actual Blockbuster result, which is why nobody's Thursday plan is the same plan.

Chuk, at least, has already decided the outcome in his head. At 11:03 PM he flatly stated Jason would leave against Melody and told Dee to stop worrying about the vote and focus on the next HOH — which brings us to the third game.

The next HOH is already in the room

Chuk didn't stop at the vote. At 11:06 PM he said he'd nominate Mallory if he won HOH — while adding that he personally could not nominate LaTrice. He also told Dee that Mallory or Melody cannot win tonight's HOH. That's a player naming targets before the current eviction has even happened, which is how you know Thursday's third act might be the biggest one.

Meanwhile, Devens complicated yesterday's alliance optimism. At 6:35 PM, he told Dee about the Dapper Dans — Devens, Drew, Barrett, and Yash — and gave his read on Yash: that Yash would target Rome or Jason if they returned, and that Yash could also nominate Dee. Devens said he trusted Yash anyway. Dee disputed part of the read. If yesterday's note carried some new-alliance sunshine, this conversation is the cloud: Dee now knows a four-man group exists and that one member of it might put her on the block.

The two of them also had the overnight's best pure-mischief moment. At 6:37 PM, Dee and Devens joked-slash-plotted about letting the house believe they'd won America's Time Capsule power and coasting on the bluff — Dee suggested it could run six weeks. To be very clear: this is a proposed bluff, not an actual power. But a fake power that nobody can disprove is a genuinely funny piece of game theory, and we'll be watching whether it ever leaves the drawing board.

The house, briefly, remembers to be a house

The night ended lighter than it started. Towelgate flickered back to life around 6:20 PM before feeds cut — comic texture, nothing more. At 12:08 AM, Taylor admitted she did not realize the live feeds run 24/7, which is a beautiful thing to learn two weeks into living on camera. Minutes later, at 12:14 and 12:15 AM, Taylor and Drew danced in the bathroom while Jason, Melody, Kamu, and Yash supplied a beat and a rap — the house's last bit of levity before eviction day. By about 1:04 AM the house had settled, and Angela's snoring closed the overnight, as is tradition.
