Morning Update: Taylor Wins the Veto—and Haley's HOH Cracks Open

Taylor won a late-night Power of Veto, forcing Haley into a replacement-nominee fight that exposed tension with Kamu and shifted the target back toward Drew.

At 12:12 PM Saturday, Melody surveyed the field and declared there was exactly one person who could not win the veto: Taylor. At 11:26 PM, feeds came back and Taylor Brown had won the veto. The house does this to people. It waits for you to say something out loud and then hands you the opposite on a plate.

All times below are Pacific house time, running from Saturday through early Sunday morning.

The long wait, then the flip

Veto day started like Haley's HOH was on rails. At 11:35 AM, Devens told Barrett that Drew was the target, citing his general "sketch ballness" and status as a liability. At 1:01 PM, Angela told the cameras she wanted Drew gone too—in her read, he was coming for her and seemed to be everywhere in the house at once. The nominees, for their part, coped in style: at 12:03 PM, Drew and Melody launched "operation be super happy we are on the block," which is either healthy or delusional depending on how the votes fall.

Then the wait began. At 5:58 PM, Mallory wondered aloud whether the heat had delayed the veto and whether it might run at night. Worth flagging: that was houseguest speculation, not anything production confirmed. Whatever the reason, feeds cut to animals at 7:42 PM, and they stayed there for nearly four hours.

At 11:26 PM the feeds returned with the result: Taylor won the Power of Veto. A second receipt landed two minutes later saying the same thing. This one is locked in.

Along the way, a small human moment worth keeping: between 2:46 and 2:48 PM, Lyric told Taylor she loved her and would be cheering for her, and Taylor said being nominated without a good reason was unfair. A few hours later, Taylor made the "without a good reason" part everyone else's problem.

Taylor is still a nominee until she actually uses that veto. She now has the power to remove herself; if she does, Haley has to name a replacement. As of this morning, neither the veto use nor a replacement nominee is confirmed. Which brings us to the mess.

Haley's worst case, out loud

Haley did not pretend to be gracious. At 11:35 PM, she called Taylor's win the worst-case scenario, then immediately started sketching the renom: Lyric would "more than likely" go up, with Drew or Melody remaining the eviction priority.

Around midnight, the sketch turned into a debate. Haley worked through Lyric versus Mallory as replacement options, repeatedly refused to consider Yash, said she didn't want to put up Lala, and worried that nominating Mallory would just hand her another shot at winning her way off. None of this settled anything. Lyric is a leading stated option; she is not the nominee.

Then the HOH room turned into a pressure cooker. From roughly 12:25 to 12:40 AM Sunday, Haley got genuinely furious with Kamu for pushing to protect Lyric, accusing him of playing selfishly and outside their alliance—with Angela and Dee in the room encouraging her. Our read, labeled as such: this is a real crack, and it's the kind that gets remembered at the next nomination ceremony. But nothing formally dissolved. No alliance died overnight; one just got visibly dented. Haley wasn't done, either—at 2:05 AM she was still complaining that Kamu didn't even want to play in the veto and wasn't riding with the group.

The cleanup job and the pivot to Drew

Here's the part where you should keep your eyebrows raised. At 1:23 AM, Haley said she needed Taylor to believe she had never been the target. We are treating that as damage control, not history—prior receipts have Haley naming Taylor as her target. What Haley needs Taylor to believe and what actually happened are two different documents.

The strategy consolidated between 1:48 and 2:00 AM: Haley and Chuk circled back to Lyric as a strong renom option and framed Drew as the person to take out this week. Haley also asked Chuk to smooth things over with Taylor, which tells you how worried she is about a veto-holding, newly-empowered Taylor with a vote and a memory.

The other players felt the temperature shift too. Between 2:08 and 2:15 AM, Lyric tried steering the replacement conversation toward Lala—self-preservation is a full-time job—while Melody said she felt good about her chances sitting next to Drew, and Mallory figured she'd lose beside either Melody or Drew. Everyone is doing eviction math with a variable that hasn't been assigned yet.

Meanwhile, on the block: hand-holding and a guessing game

While the HOH room burned, the nominees glowed. From 2:55 to 3:58 AM, Drew and Melody stayed up together, praised Taylor's win, traded personal secrets, and touched hands—actual hand contact, feedwatchers, note your timestamps—while Melody's game-show-host job became the subject of a long, meandering guessing game. To be clear about what this is: showmance and social texture, not a deal, not an alliance, not anything with mechanical weight. But two people on the block choosing to spend the darkest hours of the night being charmed by each other is its own kind of strategy, even if neither of them would call it that.

Does Taylor use the veto on herself? (Yes, almost certainly. But it hasn't happened.)
Does Haley actually land on Lyric, or does the Kamu fight change the calculus?
