Morning Update: Mallory Has Eight Names—and No Final Ballot

Lyric gave Mallory eight possible supporters, but the Blockbuster has not set the matchup and Mallory fears one switch could create a tie. Drew clarified that he wants Jason out if Mallory wins safety.

Late Tuesday night, Lyric handed Mallory the warmest thing you can give a nominee at 11:34 PM: a list. Eight names, counted off like a lullaby—Lyric, Melody, Barrett, Angela, Drew, Yash, Taylor, and Jason—all supposedly ready to keep Mallory in the house. It's a comforting number. It's also a number attached to a vote that doesn't exist yet, because the BB Blockbuster hasn't been played, nobody knows the final matchup, and by 1:36 AM Mallory herself was doing the math out loud on how one defector turns her rescue into a tie. Eight names, zero ballots. That's where the house went to sleep.

The reassurance, and the cracks in it

The campaign engine started at 11:19 PM, when Barrett told Mallory they needed to get Devens reassured. Six minutes later Lyric told Mallory she was "for sure staying," and Mallory's reply was the tell: she hoped so. At 11:32 PM Lyric doubled down—Mallory wasn't the target, and the votes were there—but Mallory immediately flagged the holes herself, admitting she hadn't personally spoken with Dee or Devens.

Then came the eight-name list at 11:34 PM, delivered right after Mallory warned Lyric not to let Jason or Taylor know the vote was close. Read that sequence carefully: the person being reassured is simultaneously managing information leaks about how fragile the count is.

The soft spots kept surfacing. At 11:37 PM Lyric described Devens as wishy-washy—not a word you want attached to a vote you're counting—while encouraging Mallory to eat a good breakfast on Blockbuster day. At 11:39 PM Barrett vowed to "go berserk" if Mallory went home, which is loyalty, not arithmetic. And the overnight closed with two receipts that quietly undercut the whole list: at 1:36 AM Mallory said one switch could produce a tie and that Barrett believed they had Dee and Angela, and at 1:44 AM Melody said she'd try to talk to Dee and Angela about the vote Wednesday. You don't schedule lobbying meetings for votes you already have.

One structural caveat the eight names can't escape: whoever wins Blockbuster safety reshapes the ballot itself. One name on Lyric's list is currently a nominee. That alone makes the count matchup-dependent. The count can't be real until the matchup is.

Drew's one-branch preference

At 12:26 AM, Drew gave Mallory the clearest strategic read of the night—but only for one branch of the tree. He told her she needed to win the Blockbuster so that Jason could go home and Lala could be made a Have-Not next week. That's a specific preference for the world where Mallory wins safety and Jason faces Lala. It says nothing about how Drew votes if the matchup lands differently.

Two minutes later, Melody recalled Jason's earlier Blockbuster performance—he clocked the puzzle and finished it fast. That's a memory, not a spoiler; it explains why the house respects Jason's competition threat, not what happens Thursday. Mallory, for her part, declared at 12:30 AM that she would win the Blockbuster and deliver a defiant line afterward. File under confidence, not outcome.

Mallory's long night

Between the vote-counting, Mallory had one of the more human overnights of the season. At 12:38 AM she stood alone at the memory wall. At 12:41 AM she compared herself to a leaking honey-bear jar on the kitchen counter—her image, her joke, and honestly a pretty accurate one for a nominee slowly losing composure one drip at a time. Just before 1 AM she mentioned she'd held 14 jobs, kicking off a round of old-work stories in the Have-Not room.

And the night's smallest, best beat: at 11:50 PM, Kamu—the HOH Mallory believes wants her gone—finally located a small remaining bag of Froot Loops after hunting for them, took a few at 11:51 PM, and saved the rest for Mallory. The game is the game, but somebody still saved her the cereal.

Melody and Mallory turned in at 1:47 AM, the last tracked houseguests to bed.

What has to happen before any count is real

The BB Blockbuster. One of Jason, Lala, or Mallory wins safety, and only then does the actual eviction matchup exist.
The lobbying. Melody's planned Wednesday conversations with Dee and Angela, plus whatever reassurance Devens does or doesn't get.
The recount. Every name on Lyric's list has to survive contact with the real matchup—and Mallory's own 1:36 AM tie scenario says she doesn't trust it yet either.

Until then: eight names, warm feelings, no ballot.
