Morning Update: LaTrice Wins the Wall—and Takes Over a Flipped House

Drew won the Blockbuster, Lyric was evicted 8–3, and LaTrice outlasted Kamu on the Wall before inheriting a house full of competing target pitches.

Morning Update: LaTrice Wins the Wall—and Takes Over a Flipped House

Thursday night gave us a live-show escape, a blindside eviction, and then a 57-year-old LaTrice Verrett standing alone on the Wall while everyone else picked themselves up off the mats. LaTrice is your Week 5 Head of Household, and she earned it the long way.

Let's run the whole night, from Blockbuster to sunrise.

Drew Escapes, Lyric Goes Home 8–3

The BB Blockbuster kicked off live at 5:23 PM with Drew, Melody, and Lyric working a two-tier puzzle for the last seat of safety. Drew finished first at 5:28 PM, and Julie made it official to the house at 5:34 PM.

That left Lyric and Melody on the block, and at 5:48 PM Julie delivered the verdict: Lyric was evicted 8–3. The three votes to evict Melody came from Kamu, Yash, and Chuk. The other eight sent Lyric out the door.

Eight to three. Sit with that number, because the house certainly did.

The Flip Hits, and the Theories Fly

The lopsided vote landed on Haley's side of the house like a dropped tray in a quiet cafeteria. By 6:13 PM, Drew, Mallory, and Melody were celebrating—and Drew explained his own piece of tradecraft: he'd told Yash about the vote but deliberately stayed glued to him before the show so Yash couldn't tip off Haley, Chuk, or Kamu. Cold. Effective.

Meanwhile, the outvoted trio went to work. From roughly 6:30 to 7:45 PM, Haley hunted for the flipped votes while Chuk, Kamu, Yash, Dee, Taylor, and others compared stories. Haley insisted someone was lying and at points wondered aloud whether a power or a voting mistake could explain the math.

To be clear, because the house wasn't: there's no evidence of any power, penalty, or ballot error. The explanation is the boring one. Eight people voted to evict Lyric, and some of them didn't tell Haley first. Kamu counting the eight votes on his fingers at 7:42 PM was the sound of a coalition realizing it wasn't one.

The Wall Belongs to LaTrice

When feeds returned at 9:49 PM, the Wall was already underway, Haley was hosting as the outgoing HOH, and Angela was down.

The attrition ground on for hours. By 11:05 PM it was down to Drew, Kamu, and LaTrice. Drew fell at 11:12 PM, and it was Kamu versus LaTrice, one of them fresh off watching his side get steamrolled 8–3.

Feeds cut, then came back at 11:32 PM to LaTrice in tears—the good kind. LaLa won the Wall. LaLa won HOH.

And if you want to know what it meant to her, the feeds handed us the answer at 12:27 AM, alone in the bunk room: "I did it, we can do anything we set our minds to doing. I won the wall comp in Big Brother... I'm so proud of myself." No audience, no strategy, just a woman telling herself the truth about what she'd just pulled off. It was one of the season's best moments so far.

Even the runner-up signed off on it. At 1:50 AM, Kamu told LaTrice their Wall strategies were nearly identical and that she beat him fair and square.

Power Arrives Before Sleep Does

LaTrice got her HOH room around 2:12 AM and did what winners do at that hour: looked at family photos and cried through a supportive letter from home.

She got about thirty minutes of peace before the game came knocking. From roughly 2:44 to 3:02 AM, Taylor settled in for very early strategy talk. Emphasis on early, and on exploratory—LaTrice was thinking out loud, not carving anything into stone:

Some of that is contradictory, which is exactly what 3 AM planning after a Wall comp looks like. Drew, for his part, guessed at 2:27 AM that he might see his face on the nomination board Friday—but that's Drew's guess, not a nomination.

One more overnight receipt before lights out: the Have-Not room claimed Barrett, Haley, Drew, and Chuk around 3:52 AM.

What's Actually Settled This Morning

  • HOH: LaTrice Verrett, Week 5, via the Wall.
  • Nominations: None yet. Nothing is locked.
  • Names in early discussion only: Devens (as a possible target or backdoor), plus Haley, Kamu, Barrett, and Drew in various nominee/pawn combinations. LaTrice has said she won't nominate Dee, Angela, or Chuk. Everything else is a pitch, not a plan.
  • Evicted: Lyric, 8–3.
  • Have-Nots: Barrett, Haley, Drew, Chuk.

The house that started Thursday's live show is not the house finally heading to bed Friday morning. The vote flipped, the losing side is still doing forensics, and the person holding all the power is the one who just proved—to the house and to herself—that she can outlast anybody. Nomination talk will harden today. Until it does, let LaTrice have her moment. She earned every second on that Wall.
