Morning Update: Kamu Takes HOH and Draws a Backdoor Route

Kamu won Week 3 HOH, then an all-night strategy session shifted his thinking toward Lyric, LaTrice, and Mallory as possible initial nominees with Jason as a possible backdoor. Nothing is official yet.

If you went to bed after the eviction and expected a quiet reset, congratulations on your sleep hygiene, and also you missed everything. Kamu won the Week 3 Head of Household competition at 10:32 PM, and then proceeded to hold what can only be described as an all-night strategy summit in the HOH room, during which his plan mutated from "put up three people, no tricks" to "actually, let's talk about a backdoor." All times below are Pacific, covering Thursday evening through the last overnight receipt at 4:30 AM Friday.

One thing before we get into it, because we know how fast fan spaces turn speculation into fact: no nomination ceremony has happened. Every name you're about to read is a name in Kamu's head, spoken out loud at 3 AM, which is very different from an official nomination. The confirmed board this morning shows exactly one change: Kamu is HOH. That's it.

The win and the immediate scramble

Feeds cut to animals at 8:32 PM for the competition, and two hours later, at 10:32 PM, they returned with Kamu as the new HOH. The house did not waste time. By 10:35 PM, Drew and Melody were comparing notes and discovering that Kamu had told each of them, individually, that they were safe — which is either reassuring or a red flag depending on how many other people got the same speech. Two minutes later, Drew offered the only piece of hard intel anyone had: Jason was the one person they believed Kamu would nominate.

At 10:43 PM, Kamu laid out his opening position to Drew, Barrett, and Melody: he wanted to nominate three people directly and skip the backdoor entirely. Straightforward. Clean. Doomed, apparently, because that position lasted roughly four hours.

The plan starts moving

Kamu got his HOH room at 12:42 AM — family photos, a letter, food, Christian music, the full package — and if you thought the room reveal would slow down the strategizing, you have not watched this show before. The room became the war room almost immediately.

Around 1:15 AM, Kamu told Lyric he had no intention of putting her up and asked her to keep it quiet. Bookmark that. It matters in about two hours.

At 1:37 AM he was openly dissecting how people reacted to his win, and by 1:40 AM he told Drew that his thinking included Mallory, Jason, and LaTrice — while stressing he was still collecting information. This is the moment the "three direct nominees, no backdoor" plan started developing cracks, with Drew clearly helping shape what came next.

The working plan, carefully stated

Here's where the night landed, and here's where we need to be precise. At 2:35 AM, talking with Angela, Haley, and Dee, Kamu described an evolving plan: Lyric, LaTrice, and Mallory up front, with Jason as a potential backdoor. At 2:48 AM he ran it again — Lyric, Mallory, and LaTrice as possible initial nominees, with the hope of pulling Lyric off with the veto, sliding Jason into her spot, and sending home Jason or Mallory. At 2:57 AM, same outline, third telling, this time with an explicit note that the Tool Shed alliance comes first.

At 3:15 AM, Kamu and Drew committed to the backdoor route as the working approach, with Kamu reasoning that it gave the highest chance of Jason or Mallory walking out the door. His logic on Lyric: she'd be easier to beat in a veto competition, which is exactly the kind of assessment that has embarrassed roughly four hundred previous HOHs, but we'll allow it for now.

So the current state of play, as of the overnight: possible initial nominees Lyric, LaTrice, and Mallory; Jason as a possible backdoor; Jason or Mallory as the desired eviction. None of it official. All of it subject to whatever conversation happens over Friday's cereal.

The Lyric problem

Now back to that bookmark. At 1:15 AM, Kamu told Lyric she was safe. By 3:04 AM, he was acknowledging — out loud, on feeds — that he had a trust problem: he'd promised Lyric safety, and after talking to Drew, his plan might use her as a pawn anyway. Credit where due for self-awareness; deductions for the plan itself, because "I told you that you were safe, and technically you will be, via a veto I don't control" is a sentence that has never once landed well in this house.

The overnight also gave us the clearest picture yet of the Kamu–Drew axis. At 3:27 AM, Kamu mused to Drew that power matters less when you already have influence — a genuinely interesting read on the game from someone holding the actual power. At 3:36 AM he went further, calling Drew "my person" and comparing their relationship to a central duo with side alliances, floating the name Handymen to sit alongside the Tool Shed. So we now have a shed and its handymen. The branding department is thriving.

Lyric's reset and Yash's coaching

Meanwhile, Lyric spent the night processing the Rome era. At 11:07 PM she told Chuk she wasn't at the "I love you" stage with Rome, and — more consequentially for her game — that she couldn't play her own game while he was in the house because it became "the Rome show." That's about as clean a post-eviction reset statement as you'll hear on feeds.

Then came the 4:20–4:27 AM block, where Yash gave Lyric the early-morning debrief: she might go up, but she was not the target — Mallory was — and she should play her own game without needing Rome's protection. Lyric said she felt bad that Rome stuck his neck out for her and went home. It's a genuinely human beat to end the night on: guilt, a pep talk, and the first outlines of a solo game.

One loose thread: the lone eviction vote stayed a source of confusion overnight. Kamu initially pinned it on Lyric, Lyric denied it, and the televised result established Taylor as the voter. Why Taylor cast it is not something the feeds have answered, and we're not going to guess.

Where things actually stand

Confirmed: Kamu is Week 3 HOH. Ashley and Rome remain the season's evictions. Everyone else is in the house. Nominations and veto are pending.

Unconfirmed but live: a working plan involving Lyric, LaTrice, and Mallory as possible initial nominees and Jason as a possible backdoor, held together by a safety promise Kamu has already admitted he might bend. The nomination ceremony will tell us how much of the 3 AM plan survives daylight. Historically? Some of it. Rarely all of it.
