Morning Update: Eviction Day Arrives With a Blockbuster and a Split House

The Blockbuster will decide which vote count matters as Taylor wavers, Drew and Barrett pivot, and a new Werewolves alliance enters eviction day.

It's Thursday, and the house wakes up to the biggest structural quirk of the Big Brother 28 format: three nominees, but only two eviction chairs. Sometime before the live show, Jason, Lala, and Mallory will play the BB Blockbuster. One of them wins and steps off the block. The other two sit for the vote. And after a Wednesday of open campaigning, tearful dilemmas, competing vote counts, and a 1:53 AM alliance formation, which two end up in those chairs matters as much as the vote itself.

As of the last live-feed check at 9:52 AM, nothing has happened yet — no Blockbuster, no eviction, just breakfast chatter. Everything below is the setup, not the outcome.

The Board and the Branches

Quick recap of Week 3: Kamu is HOH. Lyric won the Power of Veto and used it on herself. Jason went up as the replacement. That leaves Jason, Lala, and Mallory entering eviction day.

The Blockbuster turns one eviction into three possible evictions, and the house spent Wednesday war-gaming all of them:

If Jason wins: Lala versus Mallory. This is the matchup that generated the most intense counting and pressure all day, because it splits the house nearly down the middle.
If Mallory wins: Jason versus Lala. Melody later said she'd told Jason he had the votes, then added that she would vote Jason out if he remained vulnerable. The reassurance and the intent were not the same thing.
If Lala wins: Jason versus Mallory. At 5:32 PM, Devens told Dee and Kamu that in this branch he'd evict Mallory and keep Jason.

The competition result doesn't just save one player. It determines which of Wednesday's vote counts actually applies.

Taylor in the Middle

The emotional center of Wednesday was Taylor. Around 12:28 PM, she told Mallory directly that keeping Mallory was better for her game — but that she couldn't casually vote out her friend Lala without it looking bad. Her advice: go work Haley.

The counting started immediately. At 12:50 PM, Melody and Mallory tallied six possible votes for Mallory against Lala — Drew, Barrett, Melody, Lyric, Yash, and Jason — and told Mallory to win the Blockbuster and get her speech ready. That's their count, not a confirmed whip sheet.

Kamu ran the same matchup from the other side. At 2:17 PM, he told Lala that in a Lala-versus-Mallory final, he saw a 7–5 edge for Lala and would break a tie in her favor as HOH. He also named Yash as a middle vote — one of the most courted players in the house right now.

Two counts, two different winners. Somebody's math is wrong, and Taylor knows she may be the reason. She later described herself in tears as a deciding factor, and Melody and Lyric pressed the game case hard: the vote will expose the house's dividing line, and voting Mallory out could leave Taylor at the bottom of the wrong side of it.

Drew and Barrett's Long Night

If Taylor is the emotional swing, Drew and Barrett are the strategic one — and the house noticed. Wednesday night, Haley told Chuk that Barrett wanted to keep Mallory; Barrett later said he wanted to vote with the house. Devens, meanwhile, went from suspicious to furious, saying he wanted to win the next HOH and put Drew on the block.

Around 11:57 PM, Drew and Barrett were still debating the long-term cost of the vote and asking why Dee and Angela hadn't been fully honest with them. The Have-Not period ended at midnight, and the conversation rolled right through it.

Then came the confrontation. From 12:54 AM to roughly 1:42 AM, Devens pressed Drew and Barrett over the split. Barrett argued against breaking the five-person Toolshed just to chase three easier targets. Drew came around to the idea that evicting Mallory might buy them safety as an alliance-preservation move. By 1:42 AM, Devens was telling Kamu that both were on board to evict Mallory.

The caveat, and it's a real one: that's a late-night stated direction from two players who spent the entire evening publicly wobbling. It is not a locked live vote.

The Werewolves Howl at 1:53 AM

While the Toolshed was being duct-taped back together, a new structure quietly formed. Kamu told Yash that Drew's vote today would force Drew to show his cards — a telling framing from the HOH about his own alliance-mate. Then at 1:53 AM, Kamu, Dee, Devens, and Yash made it official: the Werewolves alliance formed.

That's a significant realignment on the eve of an eviction — the HOH, the two players angriest at Drew, and the house's most-courted middle vote, all in one room. It doesn't mean the four will vote identically today. It does mean that whatever happens at the eviction, next week's board has already been redrawn.

The night wound down with logistics: at 3:36 AM, Kamu told Drew they'd be seated for the live show around 4:55 and discussed when to loop Melody in on where the votes stood. They signed off calling Thursday a big day. They're not wrong.

What to Watch Today

Watch the Blockbuster first — it's the whole ballgame. The winner doesn't just save themselves; they select which vote count the house has to live with. A Jason win puts Taylor's dilemma and the dueling 6-vote and 7–5 counts to the test. A Mallory win tests whether Melody's reassurances to Jason were real. A Lala win puts Devens's keep-Jason plan in play.

Then watch Drew and Barrett. Their 1:42 AM position was "evict Mallory, preserve the Toolshed." Whether that position survives contact with a live vote — with Devens watching for exactly that — is the question the Werewolves formed to answer.
