Evening Update: Three Hit the Block, Jason Sees the Backdoor

Kamu nominated LaTrice, Lyric, and Mallory after promising all three they were not the target. Jason is off the block—but he has already recognized the backdoor plan and started pitching himself as a shield.

This morning, the Week 3 nomination plan came with enough caveats to require safety goggles. By Friday evening, the caveats were gone: Kamu nominated LaTrice, Lyric, and Mallory. Jason is not on the block, but he is very much in the architecture.

That distinction matters. The three women are the confirmed nominees. Jason is the discussed backdoor target. The veto has not been played, nobody has been removed, and Kamu’s preferred ending still has several opportunities to become Big Brother fan fiction.

The safety promise reaches its expiration date

Kamu started the day by doing the difficult part himself: telling each possible nominee before the ceremony.

Lyric got the first conversation at 10:03 AM. Kamu apologized and said he was considering using her as a pawn even though he had told her she was safe. Lyric did not pretend this was a generous offer. She suggested Barrett as an alternative and warned that, if the house got a clean shot at her, people might take it.

Kamu’s answer was the plan in miniature. He said Lyric was not the target, that he wanted the veto used on her, and that Jason would take her place. He also asked her to keep the conversation quiet because a secret backdoor works better when the backdoor target is not standing beside it with a chair wedged under the handle.

At 10:57 AM, it was LaTrice’s turn. Kamu told LaLa that he was considering nominating her but did not want her gone. Then the conversation swerved from game strategy into the world’s least requested household performance review: Kamu relayed that some people found her reminders about towels, cleaning, and sleep abrasive or parental.

LaLa heard him out, but “not the target” did not make “possibly on the block because people want to leave towels wherever they want” feel especially dignified. By early afternoon, Kamu described her as angry about the nomination.

Mallory’s conversation began at 11:13 AM. Kamu told her he had heard she was targeting him, Chuk, and Haley. Mallory denied it and said her targets were elsewhere. Kamu still told her he was considering putting her up, while repeating the day’s house special: she was not the target either.

The intended end state was clearer than the individual reassurance. Kamu wanted Jason and Mallory sitting together after the veto, with Jason or Mallory leaving. Mallory therefore had the least comforting version of “you are not the target.” She may not be Plan A, but she is standing directly beside it.

Kamu sells Jason the front-door version

At 1 PM, Kamu brought Jason into the HOH room and gave him a very different presentation.

Kamu said Jason’s name had come up as both a threat and a target, praised him as a competition player, and then assured him he was not going up. Jason, visibly relieved, said he had been preparing himself for the block. The two reached an understanding that, if Jason played veto, he would do what Kamu wanted.

That is the elegant part of the plan and also the part most likely to explode. Kamu needs the veto used, but he does not want Jason winning it. He wants enough cooperation to open the backdoor without giving Jason the key.

By 2:34 PM, Kamu and Drew reviewed the damage from the three nomination conversations: LaLa was angry, Mallory was upset, and Lyric was resigned. Fifteen minutes later, Kamu said all three had been told and that none of them should warn Jason.

The house also spent the afternoon circling the Time Capsule power. Rick Devens first said he did not get it, then later teased Dee with a hypothetical Diamond Power of Veto and smiled when she asked whether he had won something. Subsequent conversations still treated the holder as unknown. So, for now, that belongs in the twist-fog drawer—not on the power board.

Three nominees become official

Feeds went to animals at 4:06 PM for the nomination ceremony and returned at 5:43 PM. The result matched Kamu’s working plan: LaTrice, Lyric, and Mallory are on the block.

The reactions also matched the previews. LaLa had already made her anger clear. Mallory worried that the Jason backdoor might be the headline while separating her from Lyric remained the backup plan. Lyric, after being promised safety and then recruited as a pawn, tried to settle into the “cool, calm, and collected” version of block life.

There is a grim little unity in all three being told they are safe enough to nominate. Kamu chose women he believes the house likes and believes he can protect through the veto. Big Brother history is filled with HOHs discovering that “everyone likes you” is not an eviction-proof vest.

Jason finds the Rome-shaped outline

Jason did not need an official announcement to understand what the empty fourth chair meant.

Just after 6:20 PM, he asked whether he was being backdoored and began tracing who might have pushed the plan. By 6:47 PM, he was alone practicing a pitch. A minute later, he told the cameras that Kamu was going to backdoor him.

Jason then went to Dee with a survival offer: keep him around as a shield and he could help take shots at the larger athletic threats. His sharpest summary came at 6:58 PM: his fear was that he had become “the Rome” of the week.

That comparison is not perfect—Jason is still outside the block with a veto draw between him and danger—but the emotional geometry is familiar. The house target knows the plan, the HOH knows he knows, and everyone is pretending the veto has not already become a referendum on one person.

Kamu confirmed the weakness at 8:10 PM. He told Devens the worst-case scenario was Jason winning veto and using it, because Kamu did not know whom he would nominate then. In other words: the plan is real, but it is not sturdy.

Where the board stands tonight

Confirmed: Kamu is HOH. LaTrice, Lyric, and Mallory are nominated. Ashley and Rome remain evicted. No veto winner exists yet.

Planned but not completed: use the veto, remove a nominee—preferably Lyric—and nominate Jason as the replacement. Jason has already detected it and started campaigning before his name ever touched the board.

The Morning Update ended by asking how much of Kamu’s 3 AM strategy would survive daylight. The answer is: the three nominees survived intact. Now the veto gets to decide whether the backdoor does.
