Evening Update: Jason Blasts Through, Rome Walks Out

This morning's note framed Thursday as three consecutive games: the BB Blockbuster, the live vote, and the next HOH. Two of those three are now in the books, and both went about as decisively as Big Brother games can go. Jason De Puy turned the Blockbuster into a speedrun, Rome Seymour got sent to Julie's couch by a 12-1 margin, and the third game—the HOH that decides what Week 3 looks like—is still pending as of this writing.

A quiet house, a loud prediction

The daytime feeds were, to put it charitably, not appointment viewing. Thursday started with the usual small movements—Barrett briefly up at 6:47 AM, LaTrice on coffee duty around 9:14 AM—and then at 11:30 AM the feeds cut to animals for the pre-show lockdown.

When feeds came back to the kitchen at 1:20 PM, the house was in get-ready mode, and the last stretch before the blackout gave us a few beats worth keeping. At 1:57 PM, Rome laced up his lucky Wilson tennis shoes while Jason watched—a detail that would feel a little bleaker by the end of the night. At 1:58 PM, Mallory admitted she was nervous about the next HOH, which, to be clear, still has not happened. At 2:06 PM, Melody rehearsed a possible eviction pitch with Drew, and at 2:09 PM Drew told her she wasn't going anywhere—and that if she had one win in her, she should save it for HOH.

Then came the beat that aged best: at 2:11 PM, Lyric said Jason was hyped and predicted he'd win the Blockbuster. File that under “correct.”

Game one: Jason doesn't even let it get interesting

The televised live show gave us the BB Blockbuster at 5:22 PM, with Jason, Melody, and Rome playing for the last escape hatch of the week. If you were hoping for drama, you got efficiency instead: Jason dominated the game in under a minute and won safety at 5:24 PM. The competition portion of Thursday's episode was functionally over before some viewers finished settling onto the couch.

Julie Chen Moonves confirmed Jason as the Blockbuster winner at 5:32 PM, pulling him out of danger and locking in the final matchup nobody in the house seemed conflicted about: Melody versus Rome.

Credit where it's due—Lyric called it, the house energy called it, and Jason delivered it. Whatever else you want to say about this week, the man showed up for his one job.

Game two: 12-1, and the one is a story

The live vote began at 5:33 PM, and by 5:45 PM Julie confirmed the result: Rome evicted, 12 votes to 1. Melody—who spent the early afternoon rehearsing a goodbye speech she didn't need—stays.

Drew, for the record, told her at 2:09 PM that she wasn't leaving. Feeds receipts don't get much cleaner than that.

The lone vote to evict Melody came from Taylor, a detail Rome didn't see coming. In his exit interview, Rome guessed Lyric first, then Jason, before Julie revealed it was Taylor all along. Two wrong guesses on a single stray vote is not a great final read on the house, and it says something that Rome's first instinct pointed at Lyric—the person he was about to say goodbye to on his way out the door.

Why Taylor broke from the house is not confirmed yet. It could have been personal, strategic, or simply a vote she wanted to own. That answer belongs to the post-show fallout, not our imagination.

The exit

Rome's departure was brief and pointed. He declined a full round of hugs, professed his love to Lyric, kissed her, hugged her again, and walked out to meet Julie. Read into the skipped hugs whatever you like—a 12-1 vote doesn't exactly leave a houseguest brimming with warmth for the room—but the Lyric goodbye was the one relationship he chose to close out on camera.

The lucky Wilson shoes, it turns out, were not consulted on the outcome.

The board is clean; game three is still coming

The PocketBB cast board has been reset for Week 3, and it currently tells a very simple story: Ashley Trail and Rome are evicted, every other houseguest is present, and the HOH, veto, and nominee slots are empty. That's the whole picture. The next HOH has not been confirmed, and anyone telling you otherwise tonight is guessing.

What we do know is who's walking toward that competition and how. Jason has momentum and a target that just got bigger. Melody survived a block stint she thought might end her, with Drew explicitly telling her to save her win for HOH. Mallory was nervous about it hours before it even mattered. And Taylor is sitting on a lone vote the house will want explained when the game resumes.

Three games were promised this morning. Two are settled. The third is the one that decides everything, and we'll update the board when the house gives us the answer.
